More than 300 musicians entered for Prague Spring competition

Prague, Jan 7 (CTK) - The Prague Spring international music festival
competition for young musicians has this year been entered by 237 flutists
and 78 bassoonists from 38 countries, Alena Svobodova, spokeswoman for the
competition, has told CTK.

The 61st competition will be held on May 9-15.

The Czech Republic will be represented by 29 and 14 bassoonists. They will
compete with musicians from France, Hungary, Korea, Taiwan and Venezuela.

The competition has three rounds. It has been part of the international
festival since 1947.

The festival became a member of the Geneva-based Association of European
Music Festivals in 1958.

Prague Spring will be held from May 12 till June 3 and will offer more than
50 concerts and eight theatre performances.
