Prague, Sept 15 (CTK) - Czech film Goat Story: The Old Prague Legends directed by Jan Tomanek has won the main award for the best full-length animated film at the 9th International Children Film Festival Nueva Mirada in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Petr Slavik, from Bontonfilm distributing company, told CTK Wednesday.

The festival in Buenos Aires presented both feature and animated films for children and youth.

"Goat Story was competing with another 12 full-length animated films," Slavik told CTK.

"The festival audience and jury appreciated that our film was different from American movies," said Tomanek commenting on the award.

Goat Story, the first Czech and east European 3D computer-animated full-length film, was premiered in Czech cinemas in October 2008.

The film comedy tells a story of a country boy and his talking goat set in the medieval Prague full of ghosts and legends.

His film also won the critics' Kristian award at the Febiofest International Film Festival held in Prague last year.

It has been the most popular Czech animated film in the past decades. Over 280,000 viewers have seen it in cinemas in the 10.5 million Czech Republic.

The film has been presented at ten international film festivals, for instance, in Bilbao, Spain, Bangkok and Soul, and sold to several countries, Slavik added.
