June 21 (CTK) - The Czech Republic will send another 3.5 million crowns in support of civilian inhabitants in Syria who suffer from the violence unleashed in the country, the Foreign Ministry told CTK Thursday.

Foreign Minister Karel Schwarzenberg has approved the financial aid.

It will get to Syria via the International Red Cross Committee that has been operating in Syria since the beginning of the crisis.

The Syrian inhabitants are seriously afflicted by the current unrest. They suffer from injuries as well as psychological traumas and some have lost their homes.

The infrastructure in the country is also collapsing. Syrians have problems with water, power, food and medicines supplies.

In March, the Czech Republic earmarked three million crowns for the regional plan of aid to Syrian refugees in Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey, the Foreign Ministry said.

In early June, a joint humanitarian programme was agreed on in Syria within which the Czech Republic is now sending the aid to the country.

Many countries have closed their diplomatic mission in Damascus over the unrest. The Czech Republic is not planning such measures.
