TOP 09 continues to insist on Bradáčová to lead Prague State Prosecutor's office

Prague, July 24 (CTK) - The suspicion that Justice Minister Pavel Blazek (Civic Democrats, ODS) has a big problem meeting Supreme State Attorney Pavel Zeman's proposal and appointing Lenka Bradacova head of the High State Attorney's Office (VSZ) in Prague is coming true, the junior ruling TOP 09 said yesterday.

In spite of this, the TOP 09 leadership did not pass any official resolution in this respect at its meeting yesterday, TOP 09 deputy chairman Pavel Zenisek said.

He said TOP 09's "polite request" that Blazek meet Zeman's proposal and appoint Bradacova high state attorney is still valid.

"It has turned out that some suspicions are coming true, that for someone it is a big problem to comply with the proposal made by the Supreme State Attorney Zeman," Zenisek said.

He said TOP 09 considers it a matter of crucial importance to guarantee the supreme state attorney's independence in personal policy.

Blazek recently replaced Jiri Pospisil (ODS), whom Prime Minister Petr Necas (ODS) surprisingly dismissed as justice minister in late June, when Pospisil reportedly planned to appoint Bradacova on Zeman's proposal.

Blazek has been reluctant to appoint her. The press has quoted him as saying that there are pressures for Bradacova, the popular chief regional state attorney in Usti nad Labem, north Bohemia, not filling the top VSZ post.

"The suspicion that Pospisil was dismissed so that he could not appoint Bradacova still persists," TOP 09 deputy chairwoman Helena Langsadlova said.

She said the suspicion has not been dispersed at all.

TOP 09 chairman and first deputy head, ministers Karel Schwarzenberg and Miroslav Kalousek, respectively, did not attend the TOP 09 leadership meeting yesterday.
