HN: Physics Institute most quoted Czech research centre

Prague, Aug 9 (CTK) - The Institute of Physics of the Science Academy (AV) is the most frequently quoted Czech research institution, Hospodarske noviny (HN) writes yesterday, referring to statistics of quotes in the most prestigious scientific journals in the world.

The daily reports on a study of the IDEA institute with the CERGE-EI that was worked out by economists Daniel Muenich and Stepan Jurajda.

The most often quoted Czech institution in organic chemistry is the AV's Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry where the renowned research chemist Antotnin Holy who died lately worked.

Researchers from the AV's Institute of Molecular Genetics publish the latest findings in genetics and molecular biology, HN writes.

However, Muenich points to peculiarities of particular research fields.

It is nonsense to count together articles by mathematicians and physicists, for instance, he said.

Moreover, a number of humanities are missing in the statistics of quotations. In these fields, quotations are namely published in books, HN writes.
