Prague/Kabul, Aug 24 (CTK) - Czech military doctors working in the Kabul field hospital have effectively assisted in the treatment of persons injured in a gas tank explosion at a nearby military base, Czech General Staff spokeswoman Jana Ruzickova told CTK.

In a three-day action including demanding surgeries, the Czechs helped a part of more than 150 people who suffered serious burns in the blast, Ruzickova said.

The accident occurred in July but the military has disclosed details about it only now.

"A gas tank exploded as a result of a short circuit. The accident occurred near the Camp Dogan in Kabul," Ruzickova said.

The Czech surgeons work in the French field hospital that is a part of the network of medical facilities designed for a mass admission of injured patients.

The hospital is situated at the KAIA base near the Kabul international airport. The staff treat injured foreign soldiers as well as Afghanis. This spring, they saved the life of a Nepalese guard heavily injured by rebels attacking an allied base.
