Prague, Aug 31 (CTK) - Former Czech police president Petr Lessy, who was sacked from the police after the General Inspection of Security Forces (GIBS) charged him with abuse of power and slander on Wednesday, lodged a complaint against the prosecution Friday, his lawyer Tomáš Sokol has told CTK.

Sokol said he would explain the move within a week.

Lessy has been for a long time in dispute with Interior Minister Jan Kubice who had repeatedly called on him to resign, which Lessy refused to do. The law did not enable his dismissal by the minister.

In the past months, Kubice launched some disciplinary actions against Lessy. Earlier this month, Kubice himself turned to the GIBS, suspecting Lessy of harming him by his media statements.

Sokol went on to say that neither him nor Lessy had now access to the file, which was explained by investigators by tactical reasons.

"I have asked the state attorney to re-examine the decision," Sokol said.

Besides, Lessy wants to lodge a protest against Kubice's decision.

If convicted, Lessy can be sentenced up to three years in prison.
