Prague, Sept 7 (CTK) - The Prague Literary House of German Language Authors (Prager Literatur Haus deutschsprachiger Autoren) Friday opened an exhibition entitled The Cabinet of Prague Literature Written in German that wants to show that not only Franz Kafka wrote books in German in Prague.

The exhibition presents about four dozen authors and focuses on the golden era of Prague German authors, or from late 19th century to the beginning of World War Two when Jews involuntary disappeared from the city.

It shows the Prague cafes and theatres that the local Germans visited and the German newspapers that were issued then.

The authors are presented in the form of a filing cabinet.

The exhibition also includes a library comprising more than 1000 volumes and an information centre with two computer databases and recordings of the writers' voices.

The Prager Literatur Haus is seated in the city centre. It was founded eight years ago and one of its founders was the last Prague author writing in German, Lenka Reinerova (1916-2008).

It is a foundation organising meetings of German and Czech authors, conferences and offering scholarships and education programmes. Its mission is to spread awareness of the Prague literature written in German.
