Prague, Oct 2 (CTK) - Most Czechs assess the quality of their life as good, and do not expect a significant change in the future, according to a poll conducted by the Europ Assistance organisation and released yesterday.

Czechs' opinion on the life quality is on the average of the EU standings.

The most optimistic countries in this respect are Sweden and Poland, while Italians, the French and Spaniards are the most pessimistic.

Czechs consider primarily their physical health the key aspect of the life quality, followed by their family situation, financial security, good mood and a satisfactory job.

The only country whose inhabitants generally prefer a good family to their own health is Britain.

Czechs are not very satisfied with the healthcare system in their country.

Only Italians and Poles are less satisfied with health care than Czechs. On the contrary, the inhabitants of Austria and Germany are satisfied with health care the most in the EU.

Czechs consider doctors' mistakes, a different access to health care and increased patients' direct payments for health care the major threat to health care in the future.

The survey also shows that people in the Czech Republic only very rarely postponed health care treatment over its high costs.

In the past five years, 93 percent of Czechs underwent a medical check-up, which is the highest figure in Europe with the average of 73 percent.

The poll was conducted on 5500 people in nine European countries and in the United States, including 500 respondents in the Czech Republic.
