Survey: Over 50% of Czechs spend vacations in ČR this year

Prague, Oct 8 (CTK) - A total of 54 percent of Czechs spent their holidays in the Czech Republics this year, a survey conducted among 3,700 participants by the portal Heureka.cz and the agency NMS Market Research has revealed.

In neighbouring Slovakia 35 percent of citizens spent vacations at home.

Four percent of Slovaks visited the Czech Republic and 9 percent of Czechs picked Slovakia as their holiday destination this year, according to the survey.

Popular spots in the Czech Republic include the capital city of Prague, Luhacovice and Lednice, south Bohemia and Moravia and Krkonose (Giant Mountains), said Milan Petr of the portal Hotel.cz.

Mag Consulting says that the percentage of Czechs who will spend holidays at home will be 60 percent this year, up from 57 percent in 2011. Only 4 percent of Czech residents use services of travel agencies on domestic trips and 93 percent prefer individual tourism. A total of 34 percent of tourists use the travel agents' services on foreign trips.
