ODS loses 78 regional mandates, ČSSD 75, KSČM gains 68

Prague, Oct 14 (CTK) - The Czech opposition Social Democrats (CSSD) lost 75 mandates in spite of their victory in the regional elections, the defeated senior government Civic Democrats even lost 78 mandates, while the Communists (KSCM) added 68 seats compared with the current state.

The KSCM came second in percentage nationwide, the ODS third.

The government TOP 09 together with the Mayors and Independents movement (STAN, fifth in percentage) added 37 mandates, the extra-parliamentary Christian Democrats (KDU-CSL, fourth in percentage) have five more seats.

This will be reflected in the contributions that parties get from the state for the members of regional assemblies. The contribution amounts to 237,500 crowns per head annually.

The CSSD will get almost 49 million crowns annually for its 205 mandates, the KSCM 43 million crowns for 182 seats, the ODS 24 million crowns for 102 assembly members, the KDU-CSL will get 14.5 million crowns for 61 mandates, STAN 5.9 million crowns annually for 25 seats and TOP 09 4.5 million crowns annually for its 19 mandates, it ensues from the results released on the www.volby.cz.
