E15: Czech mathematician receives prestigious EU grant
Prague, Jan 23 (CTK) - Czech mathematician Eduard Feireisl, from the Prague-based Institute of Mathematics of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, is one of the 302 scientists to receive an EU grant totally 680 million euros, daily E15 writes Wednesday.
He will obtain several million crowns for research into thermodynamics of fluids, E15 writes.
The specialist in mathematical analysis, the theory of partial differential equations and hydrodynamics equations succeeded with his application for a contribution to research into fluid thermodynamics.
"I am very glad and happy, it is a great honour," Feireisl said.
He said the procedure would end with a contract between the institute and the EU that would set down the specific sum that may reach millions of crowns.
The grant is for five years, while the work is to start this summer.
The European Research Council that distributed the grants was choosing from 2300 applications.
In the first stage, it evaluated the framework of the projects, in the second details including the use of the provided money, E15 writes.
