Čech scores record sixth victory in Czech Footballer of Year poll

Prague, Feb 4 (CTK) - Chelsea's goalie Petr Cech won the Czech Footballer of the Year poll for the sixth time Monday, beating the record he shared with former goalie Ivo Viktor.

Viktor,72, was inducted into the Hall of Fame.

The Coach of the Year title went for the third consecutive year to Pavel Vrba, coach of the Czech soccer league team Viktoria Plzen, the polled members of the Czech Football Academy decided.

Results of the Footballer of Year 2012 poll and its categories:

Footballer of the Year: 1. Petr Cech (Chelsea) 644 votes, 2. Theodor Gebre Selassie (Liberec/Bremen) 234, 3. Petr Jiracek (Wolfsburg/Hamburg) 165, 4. Tomas Huebschman (Shakhtar Donetsk) 123, 5. David Lafata (Jablonec/Sparta) 118, 6. Michal Kadlec (Leverkusen) and David Limbersky (Plzen) each 97, 8. Pavel Horvath (Plzen) 65, 9. Vaclav Pilar (Plzen/Wolfsburg) and Tomas Sivok (Besiktas Istanbul) each 64.

Coach of the Year 1. Pavel Vrba (Plzen) 412, 2. Jaroslav Silhavy (Liberec) 183, 3. Michal Bilek (Czech national team) 150.

Talent of the Year: 1. Tomas Kalas (Arnhem) 264, 2. Martin Pospisil (Olomouc) 172, 3. Matej Vydra (Watford) 142.

Hall of the Fame: 1. Ivo Viktor 32, 2. Pavel Nedved 26, 3. Josef Bican 11, 4. Karel Brueckner 8, 5. Jan Koller, Zdenek Nehoda and Frantisek Planicka each 3, 8. Karel Kroupa 2.
