Another case of nearly colliding trains occurs on Czech railway

Adamov, South Moravia, Feb 4 (CTK) - Another case of two trains nearly colliding on the same track, third in the past two weeks, occurred in the Czech Republic Monday, Rail Inspection spokesman Martin Drapal told CTK.

In the Adamov railway station, the arriving Gustav Klimt EuroCity express train, which was heading from Graz, Austria, to Prague, ended up on a track occupied by another train going in the same direction.

The express train stopped about 50 metres far from the standing train.

In this case, the express train driver probably did not breach a stop signal, unlike the drivers in the previous two cases that happened recently in Kolin and in Strancice, both central Bohemia.

In Kolin and Strancice, where two trains moved towards each other along the same track, a disaster was prevented by the "general stop" or a prompt intervention of an officer at the railway station who noticed the danger of a collision and halted the operation along the track section.

In Adamov, the driver stopped by himself.

The investigation of the accident is underway.
