Prague, Feb 6 (CTK) - A total of 1494 gay and lesbian couples have entered into registered partnership since this relationship was enacted in the Czech Republic in mid-2006, according to the statistics that activist Milda Slehofer keeps.

No official statistics on gay and lesbian partnerships exist.

The biggest interest in the partnership was immediately after it was enacted. In the latter half of 2006 a total of 235 homosexual couples signed it.

The lowest number of registered partnerships, 177, were entered into in 2011.

By end-2012, a total of 1022 male couples and 472 female couples became registered partners.

The biggest interest in the registered partnership has been in Prague, with a total of 472 by end-2012.

According to available figures, 143 partnerships have fallen apart, but Slehofer says the number is not complete.

"Even so, the proportion of cancelled partnerships is far behind the rate of divorced marriages," Slehofer said.

He said 75 male and 68 female couples have parted, according to his information.
