WWII unexploded bomb found at construction site in Prague
Prague, Feb 6 (CTK) - An unexploded artillery grenade from World War Two was found at a construction site near an underground station in Prague centre at noon Wednesday, closing the area for about one hour, police spokesman Tomas Hulan has told CTK.
The area was sealed off, trams were not operating there, but evacuation was not ordered. The underground operated normally because the station has been closed for some time due to the construction work.
Hulan said the artillery grenade was eight centimetres in diameter and 60 centimetres long.
A bomb-disposal expert transferred the grenade to a safe place outside Prague where it will be disposed of, Hulan said.
The Copa trade and administrative centre worth over three billion crowns is being built near the underground station.
Earlier, archaeologists found Gothic-era cellars in the area.
