Prague, March 6 (CTK) - The Czech police have accused nine people of tax evasion worth tens of millions of crowns after an extensive raid across the whole country on Tuesday, anti-corruption police spokesman Jaroslav Ibehej told CTK Wednesday.

The police's rapid reaction units assisted in the raid including a number of home searches.

Eight people were arrested, Ibehej said.

The accused are suspected of evading VAT and corporate tax by issuing fictitious invoices for services such as advertisement and consulting.

The issuing of fictitious invoices was agreed on by the suppliers and clients beforehand, Ibehej said.

The police made 30 home searches, seizing 45 million crowns in cash, 100,000 euros, and some real estate - a few plots and an apartment - worth 18 to 20 million crowns.
