Prague, March 7 (CTK) - The average airline ticket price in the Czech Republic rose by Kc430 to Kc11,080 and Czechs mostly flew to Paris, Moscow and Brussels last year, the web portal Letuska.cz reported Thursday referring to data on air tickets sold last year.

The price hike was due to higher prices of crude oil.

Among the more remote and exotic destinations, New York and Bangkok were the most popular places respectively.

Frankfurt and Dubai were the most common transit airports.

Passenger numbers to Paris grew by an annual rate of 35 percent last year.

"Paris has been the most popular spot for Czechs for a couple of years," said Josef Trejbal of Letuska.cz.

The increase was partly caused by the lower price of the air ticket (several hundred crowns), he added.

New York, on the other hand, saw a one-quarter drop in the number of passengers because there were no direct flights from Prague. The flights had been operated by the Delta airline.

A total of 925,605 air tickets were sold via the International Air Transport Association (IATA) in the Czech Republic last year.
