Human skull found outside Czech consulate in Sao Paulo

Sao Paulo, Brazil, March 7 (CTK) - There is no logical explanation for the human skull that the staff of the Czech consulate in Sao Paulo have found outside the consulate building, General Consul Pavel Prochazka told CTK Thursday, referring to a case now under investigation.

The local police are enquiring into the strange case of eight human skulls being found at various places in the city.

One of them was found outside the Czech consulate on February 27. The staff was told by the police that a skull was also found outside the Russian consulate.

Further six skulls were found in front of the South African consulate, near Mormon churches and in the centre of the city. The skulls were old, covered with earth, Prochazka said.

"They are probably skulls that someone has taken out from a grave," he said.

Originally it was suspected that the case may be connected with the activities of a local cult that uses skulls. Its representatives, however, have dismissed being linked to it.

They told the media that a new sect worshipping sorcery or Satanism may be involved.

The find of the skull outside the Russian consulate coincided with Russian PM Dmitry Medvedev's visit to Brazil and it was believed to be an awkward form of protest.

However, in the case of the Czech Republic there is no logical explanation. No one knows why it happened and why to us, Prochazka said.

According to the AP press agency, the Venezuelan media, citing the police, wrote that security cameras registered an old woman placing some of the skulls in Sao Paulo. The act may be a form of a rite, the police believe.
