Prague, March 10 (CTK) - The Czech anti-corruption police are dealing with a growing number of complicated cases, but they lack people because many detectives left in the previous years, Tomas Martinec, head of the Squad for Uncovering Corruption and Financial Crime (UOFK), said on Czech Television (CT) yesterday.

He said the squad had 415 police five years ago, now it has 70 fewer people.

Yet, the police were more successful in looking into various cases particularly in the past two years and they are opening more cases than before.

Martinec said state attorneys would like more people working on the cases which would accelerate the investigation.

He said he is not capable of fulfilling such requirements at present, however.

The anti-corruption squad dealt with 581 files last year. In 2011 the detectives proposed that 297 people be charged, last year the number rose to 361.
