Car makers raise wages by 3.9% to CZK 30,385 in ČR last year

Prague, March 12 (CTK) - A wage growth in the Czech car industry slowed down in 2012 but still wages in the sector rose by 3.9 percent to Kc30,385, one-fifth above the Czech average, data of the Association of Automotive Industries (SAP) have shown.

The growth rate decreased moderately compared to the annual rise of 4.6 percent in 2011 and a 6.5 percent increase in the preceding year, said SAP secretariat head Antonin Sipek.

Average wage of blue-collar workers stood at Kc25,218, he added.

Czech average wage reached Kc25,110 last year, which means the average wage at firms that are SAP's members is over 21 percent higher.

Also in most Czech regions, salaries in automotive positions are higher than the regional average, except for Prague and the Jihomoravsky region.

A total of 109,915 regular staff were employed in the sector at the end of last year, 0.5 percent more on the year.

Staff numbers at car makers increased by nearly 1 percent and the number of employees at supplier companies was 0.1 percent higher.

The biggest relative hike was seen for firms in the area of R&D and services for the car industry, almost a 7 percent growth in staff numbers.
