Prince Edward arrives in Prague to meet new president Zeman
Prague, March 12 (CTK) - Prince Edward, the youngest son of British Queen Elizabeth II, and his wife, Countess Sophie, arrived for a three-day visit to Prague yesterday afternoon.
Prince Edward is scheduled to meet new Czech President Milos Zeman at Prague Castle, seat of the Czech heads of state, at 16:00.
For Zeman, it will be the first official visit by a prominent foreign guest.
The Royal couple has been invited to the Czech Republic by the embassy and the Czech branch of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Foundation.
Prince Edward will visit education and social institutions and attend presentations of British fashion and Czech culture.
Prince Edward has visited the Czech Republic twice so far. His latest trip took place in 2005.
On Wednesday, he will take part in the presentation of international certificates from the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Foundation, which is a prestigious educational programme that has involved over eight million youths from more than 140 countries.
On Wednesday, Prince Edward and Countess Sophie will go to the Divadlo pod Palmovkou theatre to see a rehearsal of the drama King's Speech about Edward's grandfather, King George VI.
Countess Sophie will visit the Jedlicka Institute for children with disabilities and the Czech-British Sue Ryder home for elderly people, inspired by and named after Margaret Susan Ryder, a British baroness.
