The population of the Czech Republic increased by 39,745 to 10,649,800. Both migration and natural change contributed to the growth. There was a year-on-year stagnation of the number of births, and an increase in the number of deaths. The number of marriages was the highest in the last 11 years, and fewer babies were born out of wedlock, according to preliminary figures from the Czech Statistical Office (ČSÚ). The number of divorces also dropped.
