Ahh... Opat 17°! And according to a recent article at pivovary.info, Pivovar Louny has two new bitter specials brewed at 13° and 16°, though it looks like they will be pretty hard to find.

I must say that is the same beer as their Zámecký ležák Speciál with a different package. Still have my tasting notes here of that one, and they are exactly the same as this Xmas Special.
And it is not the only one, I saw the same thing with other Xmas beers I wanted to buy the other day at Pivní Galerie, when reading their labels they all seem the same stuff as what they regularly produce. An exception would be Opat, with their lovely 17° and Krkonos with their 14°, that I had last year, but dont remember very well now.
Greetings

Rare birds might have been a bit thin on the ground, but the Old Ale from Minipivovar Žamberk was certainly a tasty little drop (dressed as she was in a silky smooth dark brown number) albeit in a Czech style at some remove from some of my 'old' winter favourites back in Blighty, namely Adnams Old Ale and Tally Ho.

But at the very least it packed a warming punch and my fellow imbibers were intrigued by it's wheatiness, on what was certainly seemed the chilliest night in Prague so far this winter. And that's a good enough reason to make your way to P7 – to drink an excellent strong, dark one-off beer. And best of all, the Old Ale is one of the freebies you can try with your purchase of the nice (typo+graphic design aside) Sahm tasting glass. More of the same please...na zdraví.
