UniCredit Bank net profit falls to CZK 2.77bn in 2009

UniCredit Bank's net profit in the Czech Republic sank by almost 4% to CZK 2.77 billion last year mainly due to a one-off income from the sale of building society Hypo stavební spořitelna and a stake in the Prague Stock Exchange in 2008.

Senate approves more troops for Afghanistan

The Senate yesterday approved reinforcement of the military mission in Afghanistan by 55 soldiers, but the fate of the proposal remains uncertain since the Chamber of Deputies adjourned its decision earlier in the day.

Czech detectives bust one of biggest forgery gangs in Europe
