It takes firemen nine hours to put out fire in national park

A fire hit a remote forested hilly area in the Czech Switzerland National Park in north Bohemia on Tuesday, and it took firemen about nine hours to put it out as the area is unaccessible to their equipment, their spokesman Milan Rudolf has told CTK.

Three rescued from partly collapsed building in centre of Prague

Two floors collapsed in a building under reconstruction in Mikulandská street in the centre of Prague Tuesday morning, burying several people, three of whom have been found with severe injuries and rescued by firemen.

Chamber of Deputies head starts visit to USA

Nečasová appeals verdict over abuse of military intelligence

Jana Necasova (previously Nagyova), the wife of former Czech prime minister Petr Necas and the former head of his office, has appealed the two-year suspended sentence and a five-year professional ban over abuse of the military intelligence service, judge Pavla Hajkova told CTK on Monday.

Two tigers, lion escape in private park, vets tranquillise them

Two tigers and a lion escaped from their cages in the private Stit Biopark near Klamos village before this morning, but they stayed in the fenced complex and vets tranquillised them at once a few hours later, regional police spokeswoman Iva Kormosova has told CTK.

OECD recommends Prague to link retirement age to life expectancy

Babiš criticises distribution of 450 migrants among EU states

Czech PM Andrej Babiš does not consider it correct of France, Germany, Malta, Portugal and Spain to accept each part of the 450 migrants from the boat rescued in the Mediterranean Sea on Saturday, he said after meeting OECD Secretary-General Angel Gurria on Monday.

Czech military to establish new paratrooper regiment

The Czech military will establish a new paratrooper regiment in the autumn of 2020, which will be gradually developed and equipped to attain all its planned full capabilities by 2026 at the latest, Chief-of-Staff Ales Opata told journalists on Monday.

Poll: Lower house faces lowest public trust
