Prime minister to consult lawyers on lithium memorandum

Czech Prime Minister and Social Democrat (CSSD) chairman Bohuslav Sobotka will consult lawyers on the lithium memorandum for the abrogation of which the Chamber of Deputies asked the government on Monday night, government spokesman Martin Ayrer told CTK on Tuesday.

Kellner's foundation dismisses Babiš' words challenging it

The family foundation of the richest Czech, Petr Kellner, and his wife has protested against another billionaire, government ANO head Andrej Babis, telling the Forbes magazine that Kellner runs an elite school to use its best students in his own businesses, which Babis considers no charity.

LN: Presidential Office withdraws ambassadorial nominee

The Czech Presidential Office has given up its effort to push through its former official Jindrich Forejt to the seat of the ambassador to the Vatican, thereby closing a long dispute that has been blocking the replacement of the current ambassador, Pavel Vosalik, Lidove noviny (LN) said on Tuesday.

Právo: Poll shows Czechs are for referendum law, against euro

Almost 90 percent of Czechs would like the country to have a law on a general referendum, and more than 80 percent are against the introduction of the euro, including 51.5 percent of people radically opposing the step, according to a Datamar agency poll released by daily Pravo on Tuesday.

Customs officers seize illegal wildlife items at Prague airport

Customs officers at Prague's Vaclav Havel International Airport seized a number of illegal exotic souvenirs transported by tourists this summer, including sea corals and traditional Chinese medicine products, their spokeswoman Sarka Miskovska told CTK on Tuesday.

KDU-ČSL wants pension fund from profits of state-run firms
