Courts to deal with ex-PM wife's info leak case again

The Prague High Court annulled on Thursday the verdict in the intelligence information leak case of Jana Necasova (previously Nagyova), wife of ex-PM Petr Necas and the former head of his office, and lobbyist Ivo Rittig and returned it for reappraisal.

Film-maker Dvořáková wins Student Academy Award

The 15-minute short film Who's Who in Mycology by Czech film-makers Marie Dvorakova was one of the three winners in the narrative film category of the 2017 Student Academy Awards, Hedvika Petrzelova, from the Czech Film Centre, told CTK on Thursday.

Old Czech woman stabs burglar to death

A Czech woman, 67, stabbed a man who broke into her house to death in the night, regional police spokeswoman Lenka Sikorova told journalists on Thursday, adding that the police were now investigating whether she acted in self-defence.

Czech museum finds unique bicycle in its collections

The Municipal Museum in Ústí has found in its depository a unique bicycle from 1880 that was made in the workshop of Austrian locksmith Josef Erlach from which only ten pieces still exist in the world, museum curator Martin Krsek told ČTK on Thursday. The museum had no idea about having such a valuable exhibit in its collections for long. It revealed this only recently after it loaned its vintage bicycles to an exhibition in Duchcov.

PM: Czech health care needs special investment fund

A special fund for investments in hospital buildings and medical equipment will have to be set up in future since there is not enough money in the Czech system of compulsory public health insurance for these investments, PM Bohuslav Sobotka and Health Minister Miloslav Ludvik said on Wednesday.
