Czechoslovak Tobruk battle veteran Křístek dies at age of 96

Czechoslovak World War Two veteran Josef Křístek, a participant in the battle of Tobruk, died at the age of 96 in Olomouc, north Moravia, at the end of last week, Defence Minister Martin Stropnicky told journalists on Monday.

Czech station registers record high temperature in the Antarctic

A Czech automatic measuring station operated by Brno's Masaryk University seems to have registered the record highest temperature in the Antarctic, 17.8 degrees Celsius, in March 2015, the experts who collected the annual measurement results during their recent expedition, said on Monday.
