Poll: Most Czechs support direct custody for terrorism suspect

A crushing majority of Czechs or 85 percent support suspects of terrorism being taken into custody without a court decision, according to a poll conducted by the TSN AIsa agency for public Czech Television (ČT) that released it yesterday.

Poll: Support for ČSSD rising, ANO still most popular party

ANO is still the most popular party in the Czech Republic being supported by 29 percent, while support for the Social Democrats (ČSSD) has increased by 3.5 percentage points since October, shows a poll conducted by the TSN AIsa agency for public Czech Television (ČT) and released yesterday.

Zeman regrets he cannot dismiss PM Sobotka

President Miloš Zeman received many letters, in which people asked him to dismiss Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka in the past week and he regrets that he has no such power, Zeman said in a live radio interview yesterday.

Czech MEP denies involvement in financial fraud

Czech Communist Party MEP Miloslav Ransdorf, who was arrested in a Swiss bank on Friday on suspicion of financial fraud, has issued a statement denying any wrongdoing. MEP Ransdorf, who contacted his office, has allegedly denied involvement in financial fraud, saying that he did not have an account in the bank in Zurich where he was arrested along with three Slovak nationals and had not been trying to withdraw EUR 350 million as Swiss police sources reported.

V4 countries support unification of Koreas at Prague summit

V4 PMs write to Tusk EU summit should deal with energy union

The Visegrad Four (V4) prime ministers, who met in Prague Thursday, wrote to European Council President Donald Tusk that all future energy projects should be in harmony with European law and called on him to include the Energy Union in the agenda of the EU´s December summit.
