Czech, Bavarian PMs open exhibition of Charles IV in Nuremberg

The Czech and Bavarian prime ministers inaugurated on Wednesday a Czech-Bavarian exhibition on King of Bohemia and Roman Emperor Charles IV, who was born 700 years ago. The exhibition follows up the Prague part which was held from May until September.

Czechs extend research cooperation with German institute

The Czech Republic and a European top-level research institution, the German Fraunhofer Society, will extend their cooperation in applied research projects, according to a memorandum representatives of the Czech Government Office and the society signed on Wednesday.

Senate approves Montenegro's accession to NATO

The Senate approved the accession of Montenegro to NATO on Wednesday, but the other house of Czech parliament, the Chamber of Deputies, has not yet taken a vote on the document, which it started discussing in September.

Chamber of Deputies denounces UNESCO Jerusalem resolution

The Chamber of Deputies sharply denounced the Arab countries-proposed UNESCO resolution on cultural heritage in eastern Jerusalem, about which Israel says it ignores the Jewish ties to the Temple Mount and the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem.

Dalai Lama thanks Czechs for support

The Tibetan Dalai Lama thanked Czechs for their support for Tibet, which is important for the Tibetan people and the ideal of a non-violent solution to the Tibetan question, he said in a lecture he delivered in Prague on Wednesday.

Fifty Czech lawmakers meet Dalai Lama

About 50 members of the two houses of Czech parliament met the Tibetan Dalai Lama in the Senate this morning, which was a good response to the statement that Czech supreme politicians issued on Tuesday, opposition TOP 09 deputy chairman Marek Zenisek said.

Universities raise Tibetan flag during Dalai Lama's visit

Several Czech universities hung out Tibetan flags at noon yesterday in reaction to an official statement on good Czech-Chinese relations that the country's four supreme constitutional officials issued after some politicians met the Dalai Lama on Tuesday. The hoisting of flags was initiated by Masaryk University Rector Mikuláš Bek. Bek said the statement issued on Tuesday was similar to the behaviour of the Czechoslovak wartime government towards Berlin and the Czechoslovak communist government towards Moscow.

PM: Czech official statement on China expresses govt's stance
