Czech police budget to rise by CZK 20.8 million

This year's budget of the Czech police will rise by 20.8 million crowns over the wages of the officers who watched the second direct presidential election and the Senate by-election in the Trutnov ward, north Bohemia, the government decided on Wednesday and its press section told CTK.

Government to advocate communications wiretapping

The Czech government will advocate the current legislation allowing wholesale communications wiretapping at the Constitutional Court (US) as it approved the relevant proposal, raised by the Justice Ministry, that it should enter the procedure as a participant, on Wednesday.

Juncker: MEPs may ask for OLAF results on PM-related case

MEPs may ask for the final report of the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF) on the case of a suspected EU subsidy fraud, implicating Czech PM Andrej Babis, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker said, reacting to a question by MEP Tomas Zdechovsky who reported on it on Wednesday.

Czech octogenarians are transplant recipients, donors

The oldest Czech donor of an organ for transplantation was 85 and the oldest recipient 81 last year, when a total of 837 organs from 269 dead donors and 49 living donors were transplanted, Milos Adamec, director of the Transplantation Coordination Centre, told journalists on Wednesday.

PM: Slovak court ruling on StB not to affect gov't talks

Czech PM in resignation Andrej Babiš does not expect the Slovak court's verdict on his registration in the files of the Communist secret police (StB) as its agent to complicate talks on the formation of his second government, he said after the cabinet' meeting on Wednesday. He repeated that he would defend himself against the registration in the StB file by legal means. "This is no issue to me. I do not consider this a complication," he said.

PM Babiš not to attend Munich conference for health reasons

CzechRep to use reciprocity to ask Argentina for murder suspect

The Czech Republic does not yet have an effective agreement with Argentina to ask for the extradition of Slovak citizen Kristian Danev, who is suspected of a 2009 murder, and this is why it must use "reciprocal reassurance," Justice Ministry spokesman Jakub Riman told CTK on Wednesday.

Thousand Czech firefighters to make music fountain on anniversary
