Deputies from ANO and CSSD quarantined after colleague tests positive for Covid-19

Several deputies from ANO and CSSD have been quarantined by hygienists after being in contact with ANO MP and former Defence Minister Karla Šlechtová, who tested positive for the virus on Sunday. As the length of quarantine is still currently set at 14 days, the affected deputies should be able to attend the next meeting set for September 15th.

Ministry of Labour proposes to peg minimum wage to at least half the average wage

The new proposal, to go into effect from 2022, would see the current minimum wage increase by 17% from CZK 14,600 to CZK 17,100, which would benefit around 140,000 people. The proposal still has to go through consultation and debate stages.

National cleanup day coming up in September

The third annual world cleanup day will be celebrated on September 19th, and will be focused on cigarette butts. Since the first official global event in 2018, Ukliďme Česko ["Let's Clean Up the Czech Republic"] has been organizing national events every autumn to harmonize the efforts of Czech residents participating in the international cleanup day, in addition to their spring cleaning events, which have been held every year since 2014.
