New apartments to be made available to elderly parents of disabled children in Brno

Plans have been approved to provide assisted housing to elderly parents of disabled children, to allow them to continue living together as long as possible thanks to shared housing and on-demand nurses and care. The accommodation will be the first of its kind in South Moravia, and should be open to tenants in 2022 after renovations.

Budgetary watchdog questions government figures

The National Fiscal Council (NRR) is casting doubt on whether the plans that the government has announced for changes to pensions and the tax system comply with the budgetary limits. In particular the NRR are worried that the recently announced pension increase and the abolition of super-gross wages will unbalance the budget and not be sustainable in the medium to long-term.

For years, both rents and real estate prices have been rising quickly and significantly, with rents increasing at a slightly steeper rate. During the volatile first half of 2020, however, house prices seemed unaffected by the pandemic, whereas rents are seeing a declining trend, leading to a 50% year-on-year increase in prospective renters.
