Muzeum metro station to partly close during weekend

The Muzeum station on the Metro A line will be closed from the start of the day on Saturday, June 23, to the end of the day on Sunday, June 24. Trains will pass through the station without stopping.

Prague Airport wins award

Prague Airport received one of the two awards given out at the international competition ACI Europe Best Airport Awards in the category for 10 million to 25 million passengers. Prague Airport, the operator of Václav Havel Airport Prague, received a special award for Highly Commented Airport.

The United Islands of Prague festival offers more than just music. The festival does present both local and international acts in a wide range of genres so people can discover new sounds, but there is also a large side program. Entry to the festival including the side events is free. The 15th edition of the festival will take place June 22 and 23 in Prague's Karlín district. The center of the festival will be Křižíkova Street, which will turn into a pedestrian zone on Saturday, offering sports, drawing, circus, film, and educational or creative workshops.

Prague's transit company to launch anti-accident campaign

There has been a large increase in the number of accidents involving pedestrians and trams. There were five accidents in May, a record for a 10 day period and also equal to what usually takes place for an entire year. The DPP is launching an awareness campaign to remind people that they have to watch out for trams.

Instead of the currently used concrete barriers, the center of Prague will be protected with new traffic safety features that meet stringent safety criteria while being more aesthetically pleasing. So far the new barriers have appeared in three places near Jewish sights in Prague on Maiselova, Břehová and Široká streets.

Czech Republic ranks among most peaceful

The Czech Republic came in seventh on the 2018 edition of the Global Peace Index (GPI), compiled by the Institute for Economics and Peace. The GPI ranks 163 independent states and territories according to their levels of peacefulness.
