National Museum almost complete

After several years, the renovation work at the National Museum is ending. The building will reopen on Oct. 28 in time for the celebration of the 100th anniversary of Czechoslovakia, as well as 200 years since the founding of the museum. It has been closed since July 2011. In addition to a completely new interior, people can also look forward to a revitalization of the surrounding area. Changes to public spaces will affect the park surrounding the museum, called, Čelakovského sady, and the surrounding sidewalks.

Wynchester coming to Rock Cafe

City Hall eyes transit discount

Prague City Hall wants to reduce the public transit fare for students and seniors from Sept. 1, 2018, to CZK 1,280 a year. The discount will cost City Hall about CZK 208.5 million annually. The discount should be approved by the Prague City Council next week.

Hollywood stars were caught in 1968 invasion

The cast of a Hollywood film was among those caught up in the 1968 Warsaw Pact invasion of Czechoslovakia. In the summer of 1968, producer David L. Wolper decided to film a World War II movie called The Bridge at Remagen just south of Prague after they couldn't get permission to film in West Germany, as it would interrupt river traffic.

Výčep Na stojáka turns back the clock

The Bohemia and Moravia have long had a strong beer culture, and pubs in the First Republic had a distinctive character. The recently opened pub Výčep Na stojáka on Anglická Street, just off of náměstí Míru, has a retro appeal to capture that bygone feeling, but with some modern touches.

Turkish Airlines adds fourth Prague flight

Turkish Airlines will increase its flights between Václav Havel Airport Prague and Istanbul Atatürk Airport next year. From May 27, 2019, the airline will add a fourth daily flight to its current three.
