Polish beef contaminated with salmonella

Inspections of Polish beef have turned up a large quantity contaminated with salmonella bacteria. Veterinary inspections of beef increased after allegations arose that a slaughterhouse in Poland was butchering sick cattle at night. Salmonella was found in 700 kilograms of Polish meat, according to Agriculture Minister Miroslav Toman.

Pirates seek to legalize sex work

The Pirate Party seeks to legalize prostitution in the Czech Republic. They say that the government should stop turning a blind eye to it and instead regulate it within a legal framework. Sex workers would pay taxes on income, like those involved in any other profession. Brothels owners would also be required to pay fees and taxes.

Tesco building sold

The Tesco building at Národní třída has been sold and will be renovated. The MY Národní building was bought by Amádeus Real. Details of the purchase were not disclosed. The store should remain in operation during the renovations.

Czech minister blames consumers for phone rates

The Czech Republic has some of the most expensive phone data packages in Europe, but it looks like the government won't be trying to lower the rates. The high cost of mobile service has long been an issue. Prime Minister Andrej Babiš previously called for intervention, but current Industry and Trade Minister Marta Nováková now says it is up to the open market to set rates.

Pixar's history on display in Prague
