Pussy Riot Theatre is a new Pussy Riot's project, lead by Maria Alyokhina. The Russian art collective brings Riot Days, a play based on Alyokhina's book "Riot Days", to Prague's Palác Akropolis.

Václav Havel Airport Prague has been growing steadily since 2013. In 2018, according to the latest operating results, a record total of 16,797,006 passengers passed through the airport, with was a total of 155,530 take-offs and landings.

Progress on Prague Ring Road

There is some progress in the long-delayed Prague Ring Road (Pražský okruh), the outer circuit of two planned roads to relieve traffic in the city. Transport Minister Dan Ťok (ANO) has promised Prague officials that the state will try to speed up its preparations by starting to buy land for the segment between the D1 and D11 motorways.

Jan Palach to be remembered

It is 50 years since Czech student Jan Palach set himself on fire to protest the Soviet occupation of Czechoslovakia. Commemorative events are planned across the Czech Republic. In Prague, people can meet Jan 16 at 6 pm at Wenceslas Square for a quiet march with candles and flowers.

Reduced transit fine extended

The number of people using public transit without paying is continuing to drop. As a result, Prague City Hall has decided to extend for an indefinite period the policy of offering to cut fines in half for riding without a ticket if the rider buys an annual pass, as it is seen as very successful.

Írán:Ci presents Iranian films

The eighth edition of the Iranian film festival Írán:Ci starts Jan. 15 at Lucerna and runs till Jan. 20 with films at Lucerna, Oko, Světozor and Kino Pilotů, and then it goes to Brno and Bratislava.

Bridges rebuilt in Kunratický les

The planned partial repair of the bridges in Prague's urban forest Kunratický les eventually ended with their complete reconstruction. The problems with the bridges were more extensive than originally thought, with damage to the foundations and other masonry.

Central Group acquires Zličín brownfield

Czech developer Central Group has acquired a brownfield site in Prague's Zličín district and plans to use it to build a new neighborhood with up to 6,000 apartments and tram service. The land was the former site of a Siemens factory. Central Group purchased the land from the firm PSN. It is the largest acquisition in Central Group's history. The price of the deal was not disclosed.
