The compensations to rail operators within the framework of public services in 2014 amounted to CZK 13.5bn. This information was provided by Deputy Minister of Transport Ladislav Němec at the 184th Žofín Forum. He added that the state paid CZK 4.23bn and regions paid CZK 9.29bn. The compensation ranges between CZK 50 and 500 per train kilometre. With its revenues, regional transport covers roughly 30% of its costs, while long-distance transport covers roughly 50%.
