VÍTKOVICE STEEL has manufactured the first sheets from Brazilian slabs. Deliveries from South America will account for major portion of the total thick sheet production capacity. VÍTKOVICE STEEL’s board of directors chairman Dmitrij Ščuka has stated that depending on the quality and reliability of deliveries, they may form up to a half of the yearly slab consumption in the future. The firm expects to import ca. 20,000 tons of slabs per months until the end of 2016. VÍTKOVICE STEEL started utilising full batch deliveries from external providers after having closed its steel plant in September 2016.
