Prague, Nov 11 (CTK) – The Czech Republic is interested in deeper political and economic cooperation with Iran, Czech Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka said after talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on Friday.

Zarif is accompanied by a large delegation of Iranian entrepreneurs. He also met his Czech counterpart Lubomir Zaoralek.

Sobotka said political and economic cooperation with Iran is important for his country since Tehran plays a strategic role in the Middle East and Central Asia.

Tourism had a great potential in cooperation between the two countries, he said.

Sobotka offered Zarif the Czech experience with the transformation of its economy.

“In the Czech Republic, we follow the effort of the Iranian leaders to transform and modernise the national economy. We are ready to share the transformation experience, which we gained based on political changes that occurred in the Czech Republic in 1989,” Sobotka said in a press release.

An opportunity to deepen the relations with Iran opened last year after an agreement on supervising the Iranian nuclear programme was signed and most of the Western sanctions on Iran were lifted.
