ČEZ profits from German nuclear politics

The fallout from Japan’s Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant has reached the European energy markets, and Czech state-controlled power utility ČEZ — the largest power company in the CEE region — stands to get a windfall of CZK 1 billion due to increased demand, in large part thanks to what Czech Prime Minister Petr Nečas called the “media hysteria” that prompted nuclear plant shutdowns in neighboring Germany.
