Japan signed a deal with the Czech Republic Monday to buy permits to emit 40 million tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) that the central European country has not used. Czech Environment Minister Martin Bursík said he expected to get CZK 10 billion for this and similar deals this year. The money will be used to boost the energy efficiency of Czech households and on support to all types of heat production from renewable sources, Bursík said.
