(Press Release) Prague, April 2nd, 2013: Tym Odvahy, a sports charity community in the Czech Republic, is urging teams and individuals to run in this year’s Volkswagen Prague Marathon on May 12th, 2013, in order to help raise money to enable it to send Czech children from the oncology centres in Prague and Brno to attend the Bátor Tábor summer camp at the Central European therapeutic recreation centre in Bátor Tábor, Hungary this year.

Since 2010, over 400 participants have run to raise money to send sick children from all over Central Europe to attend the various Bátor Tábor camps, in total collecting more than three million CZK. Runners can raise money by persuading their friends, colleagues, family or employers to sponsor their run with some sort of monetary contribution, and, by so doing, help to ensure that the Bátor Tábor Foundation can welcome as many children to attend the camps each year as possible.

Tym Odvahy was set up in 2013 in order to form a Czech running community that would support the Bátor Tábor Foundation by raising funds through running to finance the children’s attendance at its camps. Whilst its aim is to encourage individual runners to support the charity, it is also keen to offer businesses the chance to submit a team and run as a relay, which, in addition to raising funds, also offers a great team building opportunity. Many companies have taken part in such activities in the past, and improved their corporate message in the process, including Deutsche Bank, General Electric, DHL, GlaxoSmithKline and many more.

Tym Odvahy offers plenty of extras to its runners, including a personal profile on www.tymodvahy.cz, where runners can track their fundraising efforts and communicate with donors, a welcome package that includes sample letters and tips on how to raise funds, and regular joint training sessions for runners to prepare and get to know one another. The Bátor Tábor Foundation recommends fundraising goals of 15,000 CZK for individual runners, and 20,000 CZK for teams.

Dori Veres, the Camp Director of Bátor Tábor in Hungary, is very excited about this year’s run in the Czech Republic:

“Prague is one of my favourite cities, and it holds one of the most scenic marathons in the world! Running through the Old Town and along the Vltava River, all whilst raising money for an excellent cause, is a feeling that can’t be bettered! To all of the runners out there, know that hundreds of Bátor Tábor children will be rooting for you every step of the way!”

The Volkswagen Prague Marathon 2013 takes place this year on May 12th, and runners registering through Tym Odvahy will receive a reduced entry fee of 6,000 CZK for teams and CZK 1,400 for individual runners. Register on www.tymodvahy.cz, until April 15th to receive your Tym Odvahy registration number.
