Throughout a lifetime of working in the hospitality industry and 10 years of traveling throughout the world, Stephen Black, the creator and owner of Hastal Restaurant now has found the location to share his love of fine food and great service to Prague and its loving travelers.
Stephen is a fun-loving Australian, always on hand to help with any customers’ requests.
He started his life in hospitality in his father’s country bar in rural New South Wales, learning the ground up from a very young age. After spending years in Sydney fine tuning his skills, Stephen set off to Western Australia to start his commercial fishing career where he spent time on prawn trawlers and tuna boats, fishing and trawling for some of the world’s best seafood. This allowed him to travel and see the world, experience life, and take the best of his travels with him to create a fantastic dining experience.
Beyond just the cuisine, the location of the restaurant in the Old Jewish Quarter in Prague 1, which is becoming regarded as a culinary quarter. The area boasts some of the best restaurants in Prague, including the Michelin One-Star, “La Degustation”. Hotel Hastal is a family hotel that holds the charm and feeling of home for the weary traveler. Along with the hotel, Restaurant Hastal embraces that feeling of family.
The food offered at Hastal Restaurant has been carefully selected to appeal to an international audience, while keeping the authenticity of the Italian cuisine. Dishes such as Spaghetti Frutti Di Mare and our signature Grilled Swordfish on a bed of Mussels are prepared with the freshest seafood and made to perfection. All the seafood that is on the menu at Hastal is delivered daily to ensure that the quality and flavor is impeccable. Not only is Hastal offering amazing seafood dishes, a range of warm and cold starters are presented as a not only a means to entice your tastebuds but as things of beauty and a form of art. Our Brazilian steak has been selected from the finest purveyors. Our succulent Tenderloin and Hanger steak are made with our homemade demi-glace which you can choose from classic to extra spicy for the connoisseur.
