This weekend, Prague will host a fair that features young fashion, jewellery and accessories designers – Prague Free Fashion Weekend – CodeMode. Remember the subtitle since the PFFW will eventually rebrand into CodeMode due to problems with the registration of the original title. The name is not the only new thing this year since the venue changed from the Roxy/NoD experimental scene to a more industrial and bigger Karlín Halls.

Originally, Prague Free Fashion Weekend started three years ago when two friends, Jovanka Vlčková and Martina Knoblochová, realised that despite a high number of talented young designers, there were few opportunities enabling them to come together, exchange ideas and present their work to wider public. They decided to organise the first PFFW event in April 2006 and due to its great success repeated the event in December of the same year. Some 2,500 people visited each of the events, showing that there is definitely demand among Czechs for alternative and original products.

This year for the first time, the fair will also offer interior design and a wide range of accompanying events. The fair itself will basically be a large space full of individual stands representing designers of clothing, jewellery, accessories, as well as, well-known shops specialising in the works of young designers such as Parazit, Revolver and Pour pour. Fashion designer brands taking part include Young Primitive, Urban Legend and Skunk Funk, alongside another 30 more or less known brands and individuals. Jewellery and accessories will introduce the work of Marie Silondi, Jara design but also the quite renowned Moment production, famous for its unique collection of deer jewellery. Everything on display will also be on sale and thus CodeMode presents an exclusive opportunity to get acquainted with what the young designer scene has to offer without having to run around the various small shops or surf the internet.

The accompanying programme promises fashion shows with live music on Friday evening (the market will open at 3pm), followed by a live gallery where you can examine specific fashion models or jewels. The night will be concluded with an elektro breakz live set by Miss Duckin and BadBeat followed by DJs Matoa and ANS. Bulva Fabula VJs will provide the visual design on Friday and on Saturday in the afternoon. On Saturday the market, underlined by a colourful musical assortment, will open at 10am. A special programme starting at 5pm will introduce the Unipragga crew on unicycles followed by a performance of Martin Pražák mixing a variety of genres and art fields. On Sunday the market will be open from 10am-5pm with a number of DJs in the background.

CodeMode aims to present original alternative fashion and design in the Czech Republic, where designers and consumers can mix together taking advantage of comfortable space with music, Wakata bar open throughout the event, lounge area and a food bar u Potápníka.
