Prague, Sept 8 (CTK) – Foreign firms will for the first time operate the air medical service in the Czech Republic where the Czech DSA firm will be accompanied by the Slovak Air Transport Europe and the Austrian Helikopter Air Transport, public Czech Television (CT) reported on Thursday.
The Health Ministry’s commission decided on it on Monday, and the decision must yet be confirmed by Health Minister Svatopluk Nemecek (Social Democrats, CSSD), CT said.
However, Nemecek told CT that he would respect the selection.
At present, the firms Alfa-Helicopter and DSA run eight out of the ten air ambulance bases in the Czech Republic, but their contracts expire at the end of the year. The remaining two are operated by the police and the military.
As of next year, the state will run four air ambulance bases and a tender has just selected the operators of the remaining six for 2017-2020.
