Prague, Sept 8 (CTK) – A fundraiser concert in aid of Italian inhabitants afflicted by a disastrous earthquake in late August will be staged in the seat of the Italian Culture Institute in Prague on September 20, its organisers say on an invitation released to CTK.

The institute organises the concert entitled “Prague for Central Italy” along with the Italian-Czech Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The earthquake in Central Italy has claimed almost 300 lives and some 10,000 have lost there homes.

A public fund-raising campaign will be held during the concert when people can send money to a special charity account. The whole proceeds will go to the Italian civilian service that coordinates rescue works in the regions of Lazio, Marche and Umbria hit by the quake.

The organisers say spaghetti all’Amatriciana, with a tomato sauce from the town of Amatrice destroyed by the quake, will be served during the concert.

This dish has become a symbol of the disaster and a number of Italian restaurants all over the world have promised to donate two euros of each sold portion to the quake victims.

A strong quake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale hit the towns and villages in mountainous areas in Central Italy, mainly Amatrice, Accumoli and Arquata del Tronto, on August 24. Search for some people who are still missing continues there.
