Prague, Dec 1 (CTK) – Czech Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Andrej Babis (ANO), a billionaire businessman, is learning to praise his subordinates within his effort to improve the communication with them, daily Hospodarske noviny (HN) wrote Tuesday.

So far the people working at his ministry have not been used to hear the words of appreciation from their boss.

Outgoing deputy minister Simona Hornochova told HN that Babis was very demanding and he mostly expected his orders to be fulfilled immediately. However, this is not possible in state administration where a number of necessary procedures must be observed first, she added.

“Even if people work overtime and try hard to complete the task, the process is still slower [than Babis expects],” she said.

Babis´s subordinates must stand being almost constantly told that they are too slow, and Babis can say it quite strongly, Hornochova said.

Some people may have problems to stand such criticism, she added.

“I told him to praise his people from time to time, but he answered: ´I cannot do this. When I am not beefing about, everyone knows that it is good,´” Hornochova told HN.

However, a few days ago Babis did something unbelievable – he praised the internal lawyers from the Finance Ministry for their work publicly and this is not to remain a single try in his communication style, HN writes.

Babis has allegedly promised his subordinates to start praising them and he said he must yet learn it by January, HN says.
