Prague, Nov 6 (CTK) – The government ANO movement would win a general election in the Czech Republic with 34 percent of the vote, followed by the senior ruling Social Democrats (CSSD) with 15 percent, according to a poll conducted by the TNS Aisa agency for public Czech Television (CT) and released yesterday.
Support for ANO has increased by 3 percentage points since the September poll, while the CSSD has lost 0.5 points and support for the Communists (KSCM) has dropped by 2.5 percentage points to 7.5 percent.
Along with these three parties, the opposition right-wing Civic Democrats (ODS) with 8.5 percent and TOP 09 (7.5 percent), the junior government Christian Democrats (KDU-CSL) and the Party of Direct Democracy (SPD) of Tomio Okamura gaining 6.5 percent each would enter the Chamber of Deputies, crossing the 5-percent threshold.
The Mayors and Independents (STAN) movement would get 4.5 percent, which is 2.5 points more than in September, according to the poll conducted on 856 respondents who would take part in elections between October 8 and 27, that is after the regional and Senate elections.
The statistical margin of error is from 1 to 3 percent.
The recent polls carried out by other agencies also show that ANO would win elections.
According to a STEM election model released in late October, ANO would gain 29.7 percent of the vote, followed by the KSCM (14.6 percent) and the CSSD (14.4 percent). The ODS would get 9 percent, TOP 09 and STAN 7 percent each, the KDU-CSL 6.7 percent and Okamura’s party would have 5.2 percent.
In a Median model, published on November 3, ANO would suffer a slight loss but still win with 24.5 percent ahead of the CSSD (18 percent).
The TNS Aisa poll also focused on public trust in the coalition government of the CSSD, ANO and the KDU-CSL, headed by CSSD chairman Bohuslav Sobotka. It shows that most Czechs or 59 percent do not trust the government, while 39 percent trust it and 2 percent are undecided.
The results do not significantly differ from the previous polls, TNS Aisa said.
