Prague, Aug 18 (CTK) – The Czech lower house commission investigating a sharply criticised merger of two police elite squads wants to hear Interior Minister Milan Chovanec, Finance Minister Andrej Babis and Presidential Office head Vratislav Mynar, its chairman Pavel Blazek told journalists yesterday.
Blazek said the hearings of Babis (ANO), Chovanec (Social Democrats, CSSD) and Mynar are scheduled for September 5.
Chovanec signed the controversial police shakeup that has been planned by Police President Tomas Tuhy and his deputy Zdenek Laube. Babis indicated that the CSSD wants to gain control over the elite detectives and sweep cases under the carpet.
Blazek said Mynar should make some things clear to the commission to avoid speculations.
Blazek said the commission has not yet received Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka’s (CSSD) decision on releasing General Inspection of Security Forces (GIBS) director Michal Murin of the vow of secrecy.
New BIS counter-intelligence director Michal Koudelka has not yet released former BIS director Jiri Lang of secrecy either.
The commission cannot plan the hearings of Murin and Lang due to this, Blazek said.
