Prague, April 24 (CTK) – Iranian Vice-President Ali Akbar Salehi, who also heads his country’s nuclear programme, will visit the Czech Republic in early May and Czech politicians would like to make use of it to establish bilateral relations with Iran in the field of nuclear energy.
Until recently, the international community applied sanctions against Tehran because of its nuclear programme.
Last spring, it signed an agreement with six great powers, in which it pledged to restrict parts of its nuclear facilities and to fulfil a number of other conditions.
In exchange, the international sanctions were lifted, which opened up a road towards a broad trade cooperation with the West.
A strong delegation of Czech businesspeople accompanied Foreign Minister Lubomir Zaoralek on his journey to Iran last September.
Industry and Trade Minister Jan Mladek visited the country four months later.
During his two-day visit on May 2-3, Salehi will meet Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka, Zaoralek and Dana Drabova, chairwoman of the State Office for Nuclear Safety (SUJB).
