Prague, Aug 25 (CTK) – Czech Social Democrats (the governing CSSD) Tuesday suspended the party membership of Kamil Choc, involved in a scandal with the Ceska posta (CP) postal service provider and alleged bribes for the party, head of the CSSD branch in the Praha-zapad district, Petr Seredycz, has told CTK.

The suspicion has arisen that Choc demanded a bribe of three million crowns from businessman Lukas Cadek who has sued the CP for more than 20 million crowns.

The money was reportedly to go to the CSSD coffers and Interior Minister Milan Chovanec, under whom the CP falls. Both of them have dismissed the allegations.

Choc asked the CSSD for his party membership to be suspended on Monday. He defended himself in the media that he was only to be a mediator in the dispute between Cadek and the CP. He allegedly had an agreement to this effect.

According to some information, the case is connected with a tender for security services for the CP.

CP is introducing seven measures in order to curb corruption and make its financial management clear, Chovanec said. However, this is opposed by some companies, he added.
